Coordination: Level 2, Part 2

Develop a "hunting mentality" by applying full effort to every movement, enhancing reaction time, coordination, and court coverage.

Key Points

  • Turn and Catch Drill:
A partner drill focused on reaction, movement, and explosive steps.
  • Setup and Execution:
One player turns to face away from the thrower. The thrower drops a ball, gives a verbal cue to turn, and the player reacts to catch the ball after one bounce. Alternate turning over each shoulder for balanced movement. Use big, strong steps and aggressive movement.
  • Option 1:
Turn and Catch: Standard drill where the player turns, lets the ball bounce once, catches it, and returns it to the thrower.
  • Option 2:
Turn and Hit: Use a paddle to hit the ball back after turning. Adjust distance to increase difficulty and ensure a proper challenge.
  • Option 3:
No Bounce Catch: Players turn and catch the ball mid-air without letting it bounce, adding a higher reaction difficulty.
  • Key Points:
Maintain a low, wide ready stance with a strong forward lean. Focus on quick, explosive movements and efficient reaction to the verbal cue.
Work on controlled acceleration and deceleration to maintain posture. Set consistent starting marks and adjust distances as needed based on fitness and reaction levels
  • Setup:
Partners stand about 2 meters apart. The thrower challenges the catcher with quick, unpredictable throws.
  • Execution:
Catcher starts in a ready position, reacting to balls thrown at varying heights and angles.
Throws can target high, low, wide, or directly in front to challenge movement and stretching.
The catcher returns the ball straight back to the thrower.
  • Focus Areas:
Maintain a wide stance and low ready position.
Emphasize quick reactions and explosive movements.
Practice lunging and reaching to simulate in-game scenarios.
  • Intensity:
Perform 10 repetitions per turn, alternating roles to ensure equal challenge.
  • Goal:
Develop a "hunting mentality" by applying full effort to every movement, enhancing reaction time, coordination, and court coverage.
