Beginner Video - 1 Handed v 2 Handed Backhand
Grips and Basic Fundamentals When First Learning to Hit a Backhand
Key Points
- A two-handed backhand is stronger on the return of serve and for younger players that don’t have the strength to hit a one-handed backhand
- Work on left handed forehands to improve your two-handed backhand
- Drive off the outside leg, bringing the hip through and accelerate through the shot
- Racket back before the bounce
- With the single-handed backhand turn the hand around further on the grip with your hand behind the ball
- Stay a little more side on for the single handed backhand and don’t rotate quite as far through the shot or you’ll pull off the ball too early
