Pickleball Warm-up + Reaction Ball Excercise
Prepare your body for action with this comprehensive warm-up routine designed to prevent injuries and enhance performance. Includes jogging, shuffles, stretches, and reaction drills to get you ready for the court.
Key Points
- To prevent injuries, it’s vital to warm up before you play
- Start the warmup with a slow jog of 2 or 3 laps around the court gradually increasing the pace
- 2 to 4 shuffle and karaoke steps up and down the court, staying low with a wide base
- 1 or 2 Zombie Walks adding in a skip to get the hamstrings loose
- 1 to 2 skips up and back while swinging the arms
- Figure 4 hip stretch
- Side to side lunges and squats if needed
- 1st Reaction Drill: Have your partner randomly drop 4 or 5 balls from the left and right hand, and try and react and catch them from the ready position
- 2nd Reaction Drill: Drop 4 or 5 balls randomly each side, let the ball bounce and try to catch
- 3rd Reaction Drill: Drop the ball from the kitchen line and sprint and catch on 1 bounce
