TrackMan Optimizer: Dial In Launch, Spin, Speed & Height for Better Fitting
TrackMan Optimizer targets six ball-flight keys—attack angle, spin loft, ball speed, launch, spin rate, and peak height—and visualizes a “blue box” ideal. Fitters tune head, loft, and shaft to put your shots in that box.
Key Points
TrackMan Optimizer Focus:
Out of 40+ metrics, the optimizer narrows in on 6 key ball flight characteristics (not swing mechanics) to help dial in a club fit for performance.
6 Core Parameters:
-
Attack Angle – Measures if you’re hitting down (irons/wedges = negative angle) or up (driver = positive angle) on the ball.
-
Spin Loft – Combines attack angle and dynamic loft at impact to determine how much spin is created.
-
Ball Speed – Indicates how centered your contact is; more center hits = more mass transfer = more ball speed.
-
Launch Angle – The angle at which the ball leaves the clubface, influenced by dynamic loft and attack angle.
-
Spin Rate – Measures backspin. Higher with wedges, gradually decreases with longer clubs.
-
Height – Peak height of the ball flight, a product of launch angle and ball speed, adjustable for course conditions (e.g., low for links/wind, high for parkland).
-
The Blue Box:
TrackMan’s “optimizer” feature plots your shots inside a visual target zone (the blue box) for each parameter to determine if your current setup is optimal.
Practical Use in Fitting:
Fitters use the optimizer to tweak club specs (e.g., shaft, head, loft) to get your shots inside the blue box — maximizing consistency, distance, spin, and trajectory based on your needs and environment.
