Tom Patri

Tom Patri is widely regarded as one of the most experienced and respected golf coaches in the world, with a career that spans elite playing, high-performance coaching, and the development of players at every level of the game. Before becoming a coach, Tom was a standout player. He was an NCAA champion and competed professionally for eight years on tours around the world, gaining a deep understanding of the game under pressure and at the highest level. That competitive experience now underpins his coaching philosophy—practical, performance-driven, and rooted in what actually works on the golf course. As a coach, Tom has worked with over 125 tour players, college athletes, and elite juniors. His player list includes world number one Seve Ballesteros, as well as top professionals such as Len Mattiace, Val Skinner, and Meghan Francella, whom he coached from the age of 11 through her development into an LPGA Tour player. His ability to guide players from junior level all the way to the professional game is a defining part of his coaching reputation. Based at TwinEagles Club in Naples, Florida, Tom works with players ranging from aspiring juniors to accomplished professionals. He is known for his ability to simplify complex concepts, identify the root cause of swing issues, and build structured, long-term development plans that lead to real improvement. Tom’s coaching is not based on one rigid method. Instead, he adapts to the individual, recognizing that different players require different movement patterns, feelings, and strategies depending on their body, ability, and goals. This adaptability is a key reason why he has been successful across such a wide range of players. On CoachLife, Tom shares a complete framework for improving as a golfer. His content covers every major area of performance, including swing fundamentals, clubface control, impact position, short-game development, wedge distance control, putting, and course management. He also places a strong emphasis on the mental side of the game, including emotional control, decision-making, and the discipline required to improve over time. A central theme in Tom’s coaching is that performance cannot change without behavior changing first. He emphasizes structured practice, repetition, and the importance of turning technical instruction into feel—something that holds up under pressure on the golf course. His teaching consistently reinforces the idea that improvement comes from clarity, consistency, and commitment, not quick fixes. Tom is also deeply committed to player development beyond technique. He places strong importance on work ethic, self-motivation, and long-term progression, particularly for junior players navigating competitive golf. His philosophy extends to helping players become disciplined, confident individuals—not just better golfers. With over 20 in-depth instructional videos on CoachLife, Tom provides players with a clear, structured, and proven roadmap for improvement. His content is designed not only to help players understand the game at a deeper level, but also to give them practical tools they can apply immediately to lower scores and perform better on the course.
